 TIAKINA SHELTIES

THEY live in Norway. They have been breeding shelties for almost 35 years. They have bred 48 CC-winners, including 29 champions. However, their dedication to shelties has lead to more. SHE is editor of 'Hundesport', the Norwegian Kennel Klubs Magazine (10 editions a year in nearly 50.000 copies). She was a member of the breeding council of the Norwegian Shetland Sheepdog Club (NSSK). She has made 6 handbooks for the NSSK. She has also edited a breeders-guide for the NSSK. HE was in the top management of the Norwegian Kennel Club for 24 years and represented Norway in FCI  meetings and committees worldwide. He wrote a book  about 100 years Norwegian Kennel Club. He is well-known as a judge all over Europe and had the honour of judging shelties at Crufts in 2001. He is Chairman of the Norwegian Judges Organisation. Last summer King Harold of Norway honoured him with 'The Kings Honorary Medal in Silver', a.o. for all his work for the Norwegian Kennel Club and for Icopal, the company he worked for nearly 50 years. THEY are both Honour Members (out of five) of the Norwegian Shetland Sheepdog Club. I am very honoured that they accepted the invitation of being my guest in this 'world breeders portrait'. I proudly present:

As breeders can think different, I trust you to read this article as it is meant to be: a portrait of a world breeder, who was so kind to share so many years of experience in breeding and judging with us. Of course you don't have to agree with all the things Aud Jorun and Helge have pointed out, but I would appreciate it very much if you could respect their opinions.

“ We have learned during all these years that it isn't the most important to win. More important is to feel for the breed. Learn as much as you can about the dogs in a pedigree before you make up your mind about how useful a dog is to the breed. Breed for type and quality and don't breed from dogs that have shown not to bring the breed forward."
